SENTrack: Chris Nelson's Wednesday best bets at Doomben (27/11)

Racing in Queensland this afternoon comes from Doomben. This is the meeting washed out last Saturday which features a couple of Listed races.

Track has improved to a soft (6) since the weekend & the skies should remain mostly clear throughout the day. First of 10 races get under way at 12.08pm local time.

RACE 7, No.5 - MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO

Looked a ‘good thing beaten’ when finishing third here 2 weeks back. Heavily backed to win the race she didn’t jump well & found herself second last once the field settled. She got to the outside in the straight & hit the line strongly to get past all runners bar the quinella. She’ll relish the longer trip, hard to beat.

RACE 9, No.13 - BUSTING

There was no more eye-catching run at Doomben 2 weeks back than this Tony Gollan trained galloper who was returning from a long break. He drew 10 of 10 & the instructions were to ride him back which were spot on as he settled last. He got to the outside in the straight & made up a ton of ground clocking a very slick sectional in the process. Ready now.

RACE 8, No.11 - SALTAIRE

Cracking effort at her first outing for the Tony Gollan stable when settling worse than midfield before charging home in the straight to beat all bar Tiger Shark who is a smart type. She’s not really proven on wey ground as far as race day is concerned however did trial well at the Sunshine Coast following her first up effort winning on a heavy (8). I’ll take the punt.

RACE 3, No.18 - EL PENSADOR

Very consistent since coming to QLD from down south & note he is already a Doomben winner over today’s mile range on a soft (7) surface. Don’t mind him drawing wide as he can often get held up for clear running which was the case here last start from the inside gate. Expect him to come deep with an unimpeded run, could prove hard to hold out.
