Daniel Cripps and Terry Leighton’s best bets at Ascot on Gold Rush day (14/12)

Form analysts Daniel Cripps and Terry Leighton have provided their best bets at Ascot on Saturday.

Cripps, from Cripps Racing, is keen to be with Bustler in the day’s feature race - the Gold Rush - in Race 8.

He will also have something small on Mojo Rhythm at massive odds.

“No matter what way you look at it, his (Bustler’s) run in the Northerly suggested he was starting to really peak at the right time,” Cripps said on SENTrack’s Giddy Up.

“1800m back to 1400m normally would be a slight query, but his run in the Gold Rush last year was just unbelievable.

“With the perfect draw tomorrow he’s going to get a beautiful spot forward of midfield, off the fence and if he reproduces what he did last year, or even last week, I think he’s going to be a huge chance at an each-way price.”

Cripps added: “I don’t want to lose on Mojo Rhythm at a really big price.

“He probably got around 50-1 on the day. Just more of a saver or to get a half result out of him if he happens to lob.

“It doesn’t cost you much to play at those odds.”

Earlier in the day he is looking for more value with Red Tori in Race 6.

“I’ve just had something each-way on Red Tori,” said Cripps.

“A pretty lightly raced mare, I thought her first-up run was really good.

“If she can sit three deep with cover in midfield from that wider draw I think she can run well at an each-way price.

“She normally goes pretty good second-up.”

Leighton also provided his selections in five of Saturday’s Ascot races.

Race 3 - “We’re going to back Keep Attacking to win.”

Race 5 - “I want to back War Matters and save on Central Force.”

Race 6 - “I want to back Papavero Princess each-way. I’m becoming more and keen on it. I’m going to save Chollima just because of my mental wellbeing.”

Race 7 - “Really keen on Bonjoy and Own The Queen I’ve marked them $3 each and they’re both above that. We’ll see how that rail is and see which one we make the better result.

“Love the pair of them, I think one of them wins.”

Race 8 - “My best bet is in the Gold Rush, the feature. Double figures for Bustler, each-way.”
