Western Bulldogs forward Sam Darcy has inked a new deal until the end of the 2029 season.

The 21-year-old was already contracted for 2025, with the new deal a four-year extension that takes him through to free agency.

Having joined the club as a father-son selection, Darcy is delighted to continue playing in the red, white and blue which his dad Luke did across 226 games from 1994 to 2007.

“It was a really easy decision for me in the end,” Darcy said via a statement.

“This Club means so much to me – I’ve got a rich family history here. I grew up supporting the Bulldogs and I am very grateful to be living out my dreams at Mission Whitten Oval.

“I’m really confident in the direction we’re heading and love coming into work every day with the boys as we continue to try and improve.

“I just want to keep building on the foundations I set up last year and put in a big pre-season to hopefully set myself up for success in 2025.”

Darcy has played 28 AFL games across three seasons at the level. 21 of those came in 2024 as the 208cm tall enjoyed a breakout campaign where he booted 38 majors.

Bulldogs acting footy boss Sam Power was thrilled to have Darcy recommit at the Kennel.

“Only three seasons into his career, Sam has shown plenty of exciting qualities as he navigates the early parts of his journey,” Power said via a statement.

“Having continuity this season allowed Sam to display his aerial capabilities, becoming one of the most challenging forwards to defend in the game, while maintaining his elite competitive edge every time he steps onto the field.

“Sam has a deep family history within the Western Bulldogs and we’re really pleased that he has committed until the end of 2029, showcasing his belief in the direction this Club is heading.

“He’s an important part of the Club’s future with plenty of growth still remaining in his game.”

The Bulldogs open their 2025 campaign with a Round 1 clash against North Melbourne on March 15 at Marvel Stadium.
