The Adelaide Strikers have snapped a three-gaming losing streak at Marvel Stadium restricting the Melbourne Renegades' batting lineup before the Chris Lynn show secured the victory for the visitors.

A clear Melbourne day saw the Adelaide Strikers win the bat flip and send the Melbourne Renegades into bat first.

The Renegades had a sluggish start to the innings as they struggled to take advantage of the powerplay. Jake Fraser-McGurk was seen playing and edging off the bowling of Brendan Doggett. Some tidy bowling Between Doggett and Henry Thorton sat 1/20.

Melbourne finally started to accelerate thanks to Josh Brown. The new recruit took to spinners Lloyd Pope and Cameron Boyce by hitting three consecutive sixes in the fifth over.

Brown’s power-hitting attempted to set up the innings finally being dismissed for 66 off 41 balls failing to clear the rope down the ground off Cameron Boyce’s bowling. His first 50 in Renegades colours was top-shelf batting.

The Strikers fought back in the second half with tidy bowling from Jamie Overton and Brendan Doggett. The latter finished his overs with figures of 1/17 and excellent performance.

The Renegades arguably took their power surge too late in the innings and Thorton taking two wickets off the first over didn’t boost the score enough.

41 runs from the powerplay and power surge ultimately hurt the home side.

A late floury from Will Sutherland saw a quickfire 18 off 10 balls before Lloyd Pope fought back catching the edge to dismiss the captain.

Despite only losing two wickets for 80 runs at halfway the constant loss of wickets capped the Renegades for a total of 142. Slightly below the average first innings score at Marvel Stadium of 155.

Henry Thorton finished his four overs with 3/22 a standout from the visitors.

The Strikers needed seven an over attempted to come out aggressively through the powerplay.

Chris Lynn saw all the strike and made good use of it. Six boundaries and some quick running between himself and D’Arcy Short saw Adelaide capitalise to finish the powerplay on 37 for no loss. Every single run off the bat of Lynn.

The Renegades attempted to rebound with some tight bowling from Adam Zampa, but a combination of luck and placement couldn’t hold Lynn down. The seventh over saw the Big Bash veteran bring up his half-century off just 31 balls. 19 runs off that Will Sutherland over put the Strikers a long way ahead.

Not even Adam Zampa could keep the Strikers' opening duo down. D’Arcy Short played a perfect support role to keep the partnership rolling.

The activation of the power surge saw no luck go the Renegades' way as catches fell agonisingly short of fielders as Short got into the action. The 100-run partnership came in just the 11th over of the game. Finally, the home side broke through. Short bowled by Rogers to end a 104-run stand.

However, the damage was done with only 39 needed at the time.

Chris Lynn wouldn’t remain unbeaten a catch of the bowling off Adam Zampa saw the end of a wonderful 88 off 51 balls. A match-winning performance and his highest score in the BBL since the 2019-2020 season.

A small stumble saw James Bazley, Jake Weatherald and Ollie Pope go cheaply before the Strikers finally made it home with the points.

With 17 balls and five wickets in hand, the Strikers won just their second game of the BBL season.
