UPDATE
Day 2 of the Sydney test saw 15 wickets fall, a maiden 50, a hat trick delivery, a Jasprit Bumrah injury concern, some Scott Boland magic and a Rishabh Pant masterclass as the match is evenly poised going into day 3.
Alex Carey fell early when the Aussies resumed after lunch, leaving Australia six wickets down. Then, bad news for Indian fans: Bumrah, who came off the field early in the afternoon session, left the SCG in his training gear and was sent for a scan.
Beau Webster kept the score ticking over for Australia and brought up his maiden test half-century with a slashing cut shot that had the SCG fans rise to their feet in unison.
But just as it had seemed Australia had got back on top, Nitish Kumar Reddy made his presence known, picking up two wickets in two balls with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc being caught behind, and for the second time in the test, there was a hat-trick ball, but it was not to be.
Webster fell shortly after for a well-made 57 caught in the gully, and after a bit of resistance from Nathan Lyon and Boland, the Aussies were bowled out for 181, trailing India by four runs as Tea was taken.
Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone for India in their second innings, smacking Starc for four boundaries in the first over.
India’s openers were cruising until Boland went bang, bang, knocking the stumps over of both KL Rahul and Jaiswal in quick succession, making it 2/47.
Then Boland got his third with Virat Kohli caught at second slip to make it 3/59 in what, in all likelihood, is the last innings of Kohli on Australian soil.
The ball was then thrown to debutant Webster, who picked up his first test wicket when Shubman Gill charged him and edged it through to Carey, a huge wicket making it 4/78.
Pant played a trademark innings full of extraordinary attacking shots, which completely swayed momentum back to India bringing up his 50 in just 29 balls in what could be the defining knock of this series.
But just after drinks, Pant tickled one through to Carey off Cummins's bowling and was on his way for an incredible 61 off 33 balls with 10 boundaries, taking India’s lead to 128.
Just as India looked like they were set to go into stumps five down, Reddy threw his wicket away by looping one straight to mid-off off the bowling of …. Scott Boland!
Ravindra Jadeja was dropped for the third time this test match when Smith dove across Khawaja at first slip in what would have been a simple catch at first slip with just a few minutes left in the day.
The Indians survived the night, holding a 145-run lead with four wickets in hand ahead of what will likely be a series-deciding day three.
At the close of play, no new information had been provided on Bumrah's injury status, but it is sure to be a major talking point.

EARLIER
After a fiery last few minutes of play yesterday, the Australians resumed on day two at 1/9, with Sam Konstas on seven and Marnus Labuschagne yet to face.
India struck early in proceedings when Labuschagne was given not out for caught behind off the bowling of Bumrah, which was immediately sent upstairs, showing a clear spike as the ball passed the bat, and India had their man making it 2/15.
After some exciting charging down the wicket and ramp shots, Konstas, on 23, edged to Jaiswal at gully off the bowling of Siraj, and Australia was 3/35, still trailing India by 150 runs.
Then Siraj struck again in the same over, catching the edge of Travis Head and travelling straight to Kl Rahul at the second slip, and Australia were in serious trouble at 4/39.
Debutant Beau Webster then found himself at the crease and scored his first test run with a push out through point as he and Smith set out trying to recover this Australian innings.
Both Webster and Smith halted India’s momentum by putting together a 57-run partnership that looked set to see Australia through to Lunch only four down.
But just five minutes before lunch, Prasidh Krishna caught the edge of Smith being caught behind on 33, leaving Smith just five runs short of the 10,000 test run mark and putting Australia 5/96.
Alex Carey and Webster survived a few deliveries before Lunch was called with Australia on 5/101, Webster on 28 and Carey on 4.
So, having started the day on 1/9, Australia had lost four wickets for 92 runs in the morning session, with some brilliant bowling bringing India back into the test match.
