Manchester United have denied Liverpool the chance to go as much as eight points clear at the top of the table after securing an entertaining 2-2 draw with them overnight.

The Red Devils shocked a lot of neutrals when they took the lead in the 52nd minute, thanks to a Lisandro Martinez goal that brought up his second ever goal for the club.

It didn’t take Liverpool long to rectify their deficit however, as they hit back with an equaliser only seven minutes later through Cody Gakpo.

For the next ten minutes it was tense at 1-1, until a penalty for handball was awarded to Liverpool which allowed Mo Salah to score the go ahead goal. This was also his 18th goal of the season, extending his lead at the top of the goal scoring ladder midway through the season.

But just like earlier in the contest, that lead wouldn’t last long thanks to a Amad Diallo equaliser that saw United being back on level terms for the second time in the contest.

And if it wasn’t for a skied shot by Harry Maguire in the 90th minute, Liverpool could’ve suffered their second loss of the season and the first time they had lost to United since that famous FA Cup contest in March 2024.

In London, Fulham were held to a 2-2 draw as well as Ipswich continue to fight to stay alive in the Premier League.

Remarkably, three of the four goals in that contest came from penalties, with two of them being separated by only two minutes of play.

Matchday 21 doesn’t end there, with the struggling Wolverhampton Wolves taking on the ultra-impressive Nottingham Forrest at 7am AEST on Tuesday morning to wrap up the round.
