2025 is here and that means it’s officially time to start thinking about your Supercoach team for the upcoming season.
And we’re here to try and make that slightly easier for you.
We have eight locks for you to build your team around as we approach the 2025 season.
Harry Sheezel (North Melbourne, DEF) - $635,600
The Supercoach gods were kind enough to allow Harry Sheezel to remain a defender in 2025, despite clearly being an on-baller for the Kangaroos, something that should continue this year.
From Round 10 onwards in 2024, Sheezel attended half of North Melbourne’s centre bounces and his transition into a full time midfielder will surely be completed in 2025.
Already a superstar of the competition, Sheezel should take the Nick Daicos D1 role for most teams this year.
Callum Mills (Sydney, DEF) - $357,200
2024 was the year from hell for Mills, missing most of the season with injury, before a hamstring issue kept him from leading the Swans out in the Grand Final.
Priced at $357,200 after an awkward six games trying to find his feet for the Swans, Mills should surely provide some value for money.
He averaged 87.7 in 2025 and 100+ in the three seasons before that. Anywhere in that range would be lovely and make him one of the strong early mid-priced cash cows.
Keidean Coleman (Brisbane, DEF) - $269,100
Kiddy Coleman looked set to launch off the 2023 finals series and become one of the league’s top half back flankers, but a torn ACL squashed that.
He will return in 2025 priced at just $269,100 – at an average of 50 – meaning Coleman will have no issues making money early in the season.
The best case scenario is the 24-year-old finding his feet and becoming a full-season lock, but at the very least he should be an easy early-season cash cow.
Christian Petracca (Melbourne, MID) - $556,200
You basically get a $75,000 discount on Christian Petracca going into 2025, given the injury that derailed his 2024 campaign.
He has suffered a minor rib injury setback early in the pre-season, but Petracca looks ready to rip the 2025 season to shreds.
Expect the star midfielder to get back to his absolute best and it’s best to get on the bandwagon early.
Darcy Parish (Essendon, MID) - $481,400
Parish is $123,000 cheaper than at the start of last season after an injury plagued year.
Assuming he maintains his on-ball role at the Dons and can get back to full fitness, Parish is a proven Supercoach bet.
He has been injury prone in recent years, but he is still only 27 and capable of making quick cash in 2025 with an early run anywhere near his career average.
Jason Horne-Francis (Port Adelaide, MID/FWD - $537,000)
2025 will be another season where we’re scrambling for forwards, with JHF at 537k the most expensive option.
He may also be the best option, given his continued emergence as a star midfielder.
Horne-Francis averaged 99.7 in 2024, but will surely continue to go from strength to strength and push into the 100s in 2025.
Bailey Smith (Geelong, MID/FWD - $389,200)
Can Bailey Smith really be trusted coming off a torn ACL? We think yes. He suffered the injury in December of 2023 and is entering a Geelong infrastructure that is as stable as it gets.
He’s priced at an average of 72, something he should comfortably be able to clear playing midfield minutes for the Cats.
Given the lack of clear forward options, Smith is worth the risk to start the season.
Caleb Daniel (North Melbourne, MID/FWD - $269,100)
Caleb Daniel gets the fresh start he needed and will slot straight into the Kangaroos’ best side, presumably across half back.
We’ve seen how valuable the North Melbourne half back roles can be for Supercoach – and Colby McKercher could be one to grab as well just quietly – but Daniel is well underpriced for what his role will likely be.
He feels like a layup M4-M5 for your forward line to start the 2025 season.
