Wednesday night racing is in Launceston for an eight-event card.
The track raced well for the meeting last Friday, and the rail moves from +6m out to +9m 1200m-W/Post; +6m Remainder.
There is some rain forecast for Wednesday, which could play into the rating for the surface by the time the first race jumps.
Race 1 – 8. Lady Fern
With the scratching of her main danger, Antheia, Lady Fern is a standout in the first. She comes off a third in a high-rating maiden where the second horse won as a $1.50 favourite to start last Friday’s Launceston card. I think she has the early speed to overcome a widish draw, and while she’s short odds, she can justify the quote.
Race 6 – 9. Lindrum
I’ve been impressed with the two runs of Lindrum off a freshen, and he now gets out on a trip that saw him run his best races in Tasmania. He was a dominant winner at the track and distance back in October before running second to Noble Exception, who progressed to a Devonport Cup. Drawn 11/11 but rolls forward, and if the tempo is genuine, as I expect, Codi Jordan should be able to find some cover and get her chance to run a nice race if that happens.
Race 5 – 4. Belpine Miss
I’ve always had an opinion of Belpine Miss, who I think should have more than just three wins to her credit. She resumes here off a good Longford trial, and two of her three career wins have been first-up. She strikes a strong class 3 but a senior rider on suits, and If Sanderson can find a midfield or better spot from the low draw, Belpine Miss is well over the odds.
