What has been each AFL club’s most traumatic loss of the last 25 years?

On SEN Mornings, Julian De Stoop ran the ‘Club Calibration’ segment which asks various footy questions to see how in sync each fanbase is.

First up was finding out the best win for each of the 18 clubs since the year 2000.

Next is the most traumatic defeat, but Grand Finals are not included.

Adelaide: 2009 Semi Final v Collingwood – "Right in front of me".

Brisbane: 2019 Semi Final v GWS - Out in straight sets at home by just three points.

Carlton: 2022 v Collingwood - "Collingwood have closed like the Grim Reaper!"

Collingwood: 2019 Prelim v GWS - Failed to set up a Tigers v Pies GF.

Essendon: 2012 v Melbourne – Mark Neeld’s first win as coach.

Fremantle: 2015 Prelim v Hawthorn - Only minor premiership. Couldn't capitalise.

Geelong: 2013 Prelim v Hawthorn - The end of the Kennett curse.

Gold Coast: 2022 v Essendon - One win out of the eight with six games left ... go down to 16th placed Dons.

GWS Giants: 2016 Prelim v Western Bulldogs - On the wrong side of a famous game.

Hawthorn: 2011 Prelim v Collingwood - Up by 17 at 3QT. Luke Ball from the pocket.

Melbourne: 2011 v Geelong – 186 point loss in Dean Bailey’s last game.

North Melbourne: 2024 v Collingwood - 54 points up ... lost by a point.

Port Adelaide: 2020 Prelim v Richmond - Just so close. At home too.

Richmond: 2018 Prelim v Collingwood - The Mason Cox game.

St Kilda: 2004 Prelim v Port Adelaide - Lost by a goal in Robert Harvey's 300th. Port went on to win it all.

Sydney: 2021 v GWS - One point Elimination Final loss to the younger brother.

West Coast: 2023 v Sydney - West Coast's biggest loss ever. 171 points.

Western Bulldogs: 2009 Prelim v St Kilda - Riewoldt toe poke.
