Australian Olympian Duncan Armstrong is this week's guest on This Is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers.

Armstrong is most renowned for being the man responsible for one of the biggest upsets in Olympic swimming history in the men’s 200m freestyle at the 1988 Seoul Games.

Entering the games ranked 46th in the world, Armstrong wasn’t favoured to win and was in third place at 150m before surging past Sweden’s Anders Holmertz and US swimming legend Matt Biondi who won a huge eight Olympic golds.

Armstrong also won silver in 1988 in the 400m freestyle, taking more than five seconds off his previous personal best in that race.

The Rockhampton native is a giant of Australian swimming folklore, having also won gold at the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games in the 400m freestyle and 4 x 200m freestyle.

Armstrong retired from the pool in 1993 to pursue a career in media and corporate coaching and was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame that same year.

The Aussie great discussed his career and much more on this week’s episode.
