MRC Chairman John Kanga says Caulfield will be back up and running for the Blue Diamond Preludes on February 8 as they continue to restore a section of the grandstand that was damaged in an arson attack earlier this month.

A 51-year-old man was arrested and remains behind bars for starting the fire in the Norman Robinson Stand which caused two meetings to be relocated from Caulfield to Mornington and Sandown.

However, Kanga is adamant the course will be good to go next month for a big few race days featuring the C.F. Orr and Blue Diamond Stakes.

“We will be (ready by February). We're working very hard and we've got a meeting today with the council whether we'll be ready for the 1st but we're definitely going to be ready by the 8th,” he said on SENTrack's Giddy Up with Gareth Hall.

“It's going to be an exciting February.”
