What has been each AFL club’s biggest ‘What If’ moment of the last 25 years?

On SEN Mornings, Julian De Stoop has been running the ‘Club Calibration’ segment which asks various footy questions to see how in sync each fanbase is.

First up was finding out the best win for each of the 18 clubs since the year 2000. Then we had the most traumatic loss.

We also took a look at the best individual player and most underrated player, and the best decisions and worst decisions made by each club.

Next on the agenda is your club’s ‘What If’ moment.

The below responses came through most frequently from SEN listeners.

Each AFL club’s biggest ‘What If’ moment of the last 25 years

Adelaide: What if Phil Walsh was still with us? Could he have led the Crows to a third flag?

Brisbane: What if the 2004 prelim was played at the Gabba and not the MCG? Could the Lions have won four flags in a row?

Carlton: What if Brendan Fevola wasn’t sacked? Do the Blues win finals in 2009 and 2010 when they lost narrowly in elimination finals? Do they go further in 2011 when they lost by 3 points in the semi finals?

Collingwood: What if the umpire paid a block to Brayden Maynard in the 2018 GF? Do the Pies win the flag? Is Bucks still coaching?

Essendon: What if Essendon didn’t hire Stephen Dank? Surely they would have won some finals if not.

Fremantle: What if Nat Fyfe didn’t break his leg in the 2015 prelim against Hawthorn?

Geelong: What if Cam Mooney didn’t miss from the top of the goal square at half-time in the 2008 GF?

Gold Coast: What if Gary Ablett didn’t dislocate his shoulder in 2014 against Collingwood when the Suns were in the top 8?

GWS Giants: What if Callan Ward didn’t get concussed in the first quarter of the 2016 prelim?

Hawthorn: What if the Hawks picked Joel Selwood instead of Mitch Thorp in the 2007 draft?

Melbourne: What if the Demons picked Dustin Martin instead of Tom Scully and Jack Trengove in the 2009 draft?

North Melbourne: What if Dustin Martin accepted North’s huge offer at the end of 2016?

Port Adelaide: What if Port didn’t kick 3.11 in the first quarter of the 2014 prelim against Hawthorn?

Richmond: What if Dustin Martin didn’t get injured and David Astbury didn’t get sick the week of the 2018 preliminary final?

St Kilda: What if the ball didn’t bounce away from Stephen Milne in the 2010 Grand Final?

Sydney: What if Terry Wallace became the coach at the end of 2002 instead of Paul Roos?

West Coast: What if Chris Judd and Ben Cousins didn’t get injured in the 2007 finals series?

Western Bulldogs: What if the pre-finals bye wasn’t introduced in 2016? How many of the Dogs stars would have missed the first week of the finals?
