Corey Parker has defended players who exit NRL contracts early, pointing out the double standards of clubs trying to move players on before time.

Players exiting contracts early, whether by personal choice or their club granting them permission to negotiate, seem to have become more commonplace in the modern rugby league market.

On SENQ Breakfast, Parker called out the different responses from media and fans, saying players are unfairly criticised when it comes to the transfer market.

"The clubs, when it suits them, it's all okay, but when it doesn't suit them, it seems to be this pushback and uproar," Parker said.

"At the end of the day, it's a professional sport, it's a business."
