SENTrack: Chris Nelson's Saturday best bets at the Sunshine Coast (25/01)

Racing in south-east Queensland today comes from the Sunshine Coast where the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup is our feature. Track rated a soft (5) this morning however I’d suggest we’ll be in for an upgrade with another warm day on the way. 10 races on the card with the opener set to go at 12.13pm local QLD time.

RACE 9 # 6 METALART
Highly consistent galloper from the very much in form Kelly Schweida stable. He’s had 5 runs this prep missing a placing only once & there were a couple of unlucky outings thrown in there also. No such problems last start when proving too strong & I like him being given a slight freshen up at this stage of his preparation. Well placed to win again.

BEST VALUE

RACE 5 # 3 BLITZUM
Thought he looked well placed in this race. Dominant first up he then ran on soundly in a stronger race last time before heading for a short break. With a solid finishing trial recently he looks well placed at 1400m.

RACE 8 # 9 DEVASTATE
I don’t see any great depth to this Listed affair, limited winning chances in my opinion. This ex-Kiwi has only had the two starts for Tony Gollan & both were good. He’s had a couple of trials to get him ready for this & the always in-form Angela Jones steers. My one concern is a dry track, his best form has been on damp ground however I’ll take the punt.
