Josh Jenkins is excited to see what Isaac Cumming brings to the Crows in 2025.
The 26-year-old joined Adelaide in free agency from GWS last trade period, having played numerous roles at the Giants including across the wings and flanks.
However, Jenkins believes he can become a full time midfielder at the Crows and help them transition away from veterans Rory Laird and Matt Crouch on-ball.
“I think in the best version of their team, he’s probably a first-choice midfielder,” Jenkins told SEN’s Sportsday.
“I think Laird is flexible enough to go to half-back. You’d like the option to release some pressure from Jordan Dawson and let him get back behind the ball.
“I thought Dawson’s disposal really suffered last year because he was often going to the opposition’s best mid at stoppages. He was carrying the weight of the world.
“I think it’s an exciting mix if you’ve got Isaac Cumming in there with Izak Rankine and Dawson and Jake Soligo who was fantastic early in the season, James Peatling in the mix, Alex Neal-Bullen can come up ahead of the footy as an extra mid, Josh Rachele needs to be in the mix as well.
“He just fits in that group somewhere. The problem is they have a lot of players that fit in ‘somewhere’ and they need guys to stand up and take over the reins from Matt Crouch and Rory Laird.”
After surprisingly finishing in the bottom four in 2024, Adelaide will be on the hot seat to play finals this year.
