Nathan Buckley and Gerard Whateley have named their top four seeds following Round 1 of the 2025 AFL season.

King and Whateley will each rank the four teams they have the most confidence in going forward on a weekly basis throughout the year.

The seedings will be updated as the season goes on via SEN’s Whateley.

See the seedings below:

BUCKLEY

1. Brisbane

“For the preparation they had, that win was impressive.

“I thought Sydney had a real crack at them, they asked a lot of questions and took a lot of Brisbane’s strengths away.

“It was not a bad way to start the home and away season with a cracking win like that.

“Chris Fagan said it was as good a home and away win as he’s been involved in.

“They keep the top seed.”

2. GWS

“It's really hard to follow up after such a good performance like that.

“They were able to withstand that opposition on their home deck.

“The Giants only play at the ‘G once this year, so they've been able to get that important win.

“They stay there.”

3. Geelong

“I’ve got Geelong at three. That was a dominant performance.

“The only reason they don’t move up is because the Giants got it done late.”

4. Hawthorn

“I had Hawthorn at four after their performance against Sydney, and there’s no reason why they should be supplanted at all.”

WHATELEY

1. GWS

“I’ve got the Giants at one.

“Their midfield depth and running power is great.

“When it had to be won at the end. They got it done.”

2. Brisbane

“Brisbane at two. Full of heart and courage, that was.

“I'm slightly worried about the players they're going to be missing and what it means for the next few weeks.”

3. Hawthorn

“Hawthorn has done everything that you would have wanted through the first couple of games.

“There are clearly areas to improve and sharpen up on, but what a good way to start.”

4. Geelong

“I've got Geelong at four, that was a powerful performance and a real statement way to start a season.”
