After copping some brutal feedback from Mark Robinson over the weekend, Kane Cornes wants the former Herald Sun chief football writer as a guest on SEN Breakfast's Fireball.

In the aftermath of Richmond’s inspirational Round 1 victory over Carlton on Thursday night, Robinson took to social media and accused Cornes of a character assassination on Tigers coach Adem Yze.

In his post, Robinson said: “Football makes fools of people with big mouths. Always has. At the same time, the magic of football - the youth, the belief, the underdog - reigns supreme. Adem Yze deserves an apology.

“He was character assassinated in the lead up to one of Richmond’s most momentous wins by TV media’s newest policy: Fake Outrage. It’s hard to ignore Kane Cornes. He’s on TV, on radio, and his employers drown social media every time he passes opinion and wind.

“Today, Yze is basking in the magic of footy while the other bloke is basking in the f---wittery world of creating opinion to outrage. There’s one aura in football: victory. Kudos to Yze and to the Tigers and to football. Last night was a pure magic.”

Asked by Fireball co-host David King if everything was OK between him and Robinson, Cornes said: “I’ve got no issue, I didn’t know there was bread to break.

“I don’t think questioning an aura suggests a character assassination.

“Robbo went to town on me on Facebook of all things. He didn’t hold back.

“He’s still got it with the pen, I'll give him that. I want to get him on the show to see what he's been up to. He’s had an amazing career, I like Robbo.

“It was strong feedback but can we get him on (the show)?”

Robinson was not the only name in the media having a crack at Cornes this weekend.

During Sunday’s Footy Show, Damian Barrett said, with tongue planted firmly in cheek: “He’s a thief, he’s a plagiarist and he’s got form in this space. He’s copying me.

“He’s doing his own investigation segment on SEN which is such a good segment that Triple M stole it 20 years ago.

“We’re flattered mate but get your own material.”

Co-host David King was particularly interested in who liked Robbo's post.

The boys discussed the situation below:
