Cam Luke & Miles Pfitzner have your Thursday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Newcastle, Albury, Kyneton & Geraldton in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
NEWCASTLE
Race 3 | 2. Hippolyte Rock
Was green as grass on debut in a tougher race and has since won a trial. Nose band on so should help as will the education of the debut run in town. Small field so Berry will jag him in a nice spot one out one back and stalk the speed.
Race 4 | 2. Koning
Tipping a non-winner is a concern but if it’s ever going to win again, today is the day. Blinkers off, fourth up (only win) good track, and up to a distance that suits! Can sit outside leader Bluebird Bay who is the one to beat but it’s time for Koning.
ALBURY
Race 1 | 5. Group Chat
Looked really good in a trial albeit nine months ago but I expect this horse to be ready. The trial form has stood up and he did it comfortably. Parthenope, Maybe Maureen Raiderlicious, Puzzler and Master of Disguise have all either won or ran well since. Sargeant Stan is the one to beat and back to the 1000m. Nick Heywood won’t want him too far in front.
Race 2 | 4. Sea Strike
Won’t get as far back today form a much better gate (3). Staying at the 2000m is perfect as is the good track. The speed is expected from O'hellyeah and Astern Torch and both drawn wide so should be able to get a nice run in transit. Fav is the former kiwi Pennine Way and will be tough to beat but expect it a long way off them from that gate and hope we have too many lengths on front of him to make up late.
Race 4 | 2. Qismah
Was really good on debut in town and hit the line well which was Quinella’d by the leaders! Ran through the line and the 1400m is perfect for her! Wide gate, needs some cover but Blake McDougall is the man for the job! Not a huge amount of speed on paper so expect a few to go forward as is the case, helping Qismah even more so!! Should be fav!
KYNETON
Race 5 | 4. Elite Power
This is easier than debut run over the 1600m where Elite Power was a little soft late. Hoping the fitness and again no pressure up front makes it a winning combo.
NEWCASTLE
Race 2 | 1. Moonlight Gambler
Just missed first up when pipped. I know it’s 900m but I think it’s better than these anything better than evens is a bet I think.
Race 6 | 1. Koios
Short enough now. Multi up somewhere. Had the 60kg in a lot stronger BM64 where missed by just over a length. Back to provincial C1 and market is probably correct.
ALBURY
Race 3 | 2. Rose Aye
Short enough now so multi up. Or hope for a drift. Belted them in a maiden 2 back and unlucky last start I think had excuses. Clearly best here.
Race 5 | 7. Sydney Gal
Was hoping for each-way price but market has come for this. Just beaten last start. This is weaker in my opinion.
GERALDTON
Race 3 | 6. Myzoom
Went around at Ascot at a huge price in a far better race than this. Parnham sends this north with 55kg and puts a 4kg claimed on. Looking to break Maiden here surely. Weak race.
Race 5 | 2. Butterflyrock
Putting a picket fence together. Meets a similar field to last start and doesn’t get penalised on the weight a whole lot. Draws inside and should continue.
Race 7 | 5. Mexican Queen
Value of the day there each-way: won last start here convincingly in this grade. Gets 2kgs but these are still moderate. Can do it again.
