Magpies cop shock pair of injuries ahead of Gather Round

Collingwood have had a pair of stars struck down by injury ahead of their clash against Sydney on Friday night, reports Seven’s Xander McGuire.

Jordan De Goey is one of those players who will miss after the star on-baller was subbed out of last Thursday’s win over Carlton.

While the substitution was described as tactical at the time, McGuire says that the 28-year-old will miss at least one week with ankle/Achilles inflammation.

The other key player to go down is Lachie Schultz with the small forward suffering a hamstring injury at training on Sunday. He’s expected to miss two to three weeks.

Schultz’s injury comes at a cruel time for the forward who has found some brilliant form in recent weeks including a best-on-ground two-goal, 18-disposal performance against the Blues.

The Magpies will also be without Dan Houston against the Swans after the two-time All-Australian received a two-game ban for his bump on Lachie Fogarty in Round 4.

Friday’s clash between the Magpies and Swans begins at 7:40 pm (AEST) at the Adelaide Oval.
