NSW Blues and the Parramatta Eels have been dealt a huge blow with Zac Lomax ruled out for at least six weeks.
The Eels have confirmed a fracture to his foot will rule him out of their next few clashes will likely end his hopes of playing any part in State of Origin Game 1.
Lomax suffered the injury during his side's golden point victory over the St George Illawarra Dragons at the weekend but it didn't stop him from kicking the winning field goal against his former club.
Lomax joins Eels captain Mitchell Moses and forward Jack Williams on the casualty list.
Bailey Simonsson is expected to replace Lomax for the Eels showdown in Darwin against the Canberra Raiders this weekend.
News of his extended break will add to NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley's woes with Panthers winger Brian To'o battling a hamstring injury and could be in some doubt the opening game of the series in Brisbane on May 28.
