The best state league players from Victoria and South Australia will descend on Barossa Park for the annual representative game between two of the nation’s biggest football states.
Last year the SANFL triumphed by 14 points during Gather Round weekend with ex-Magpie Callum Brown picking up the medal for best on ground.
Three players that featured at Glenelg’s Stratarama Stadium last year are on AFL lists with Ned Long, Ben Jepson and Jack Henderson all being picked up as SSP signings or through the mid-season draft.
This year’s game will be headlined by ex-AFL players Jack Bytel, Nathan Kreuger and Jack Hayes with all three men featuring heavily at AFL level in recent years.
Bytel played seven games in black and white last year on the wing and even featured in the Pies' Round 23 win against Brisbane at the MCG before being delisted.
The former Calder Cannon has hit the ground running with Coburg in the VFL averaging 32 disposals across his first three games for the Burgers.
Like Bytel, Kreuger also featured heavily at AFL level for Collingwood playing six games and booting seven goals before suffering a concussion in Round 19 against Hawthorn which curtailed his end to the season.
The key position player has been plying his trade with Geelong’s VFL side in 2025 where he spent three years on their AFL list.
Jack Hayes is the only 2024 AFL listed player to suit up for the SANFL on Saturday after the ruck forward returned to Woodville-West Torrens after being delisted by St Kilda.
After winning the 2021 Jack Oatey medal, the 29-year-old was picked up as a mature age recruit by the Saints but his time in the AFL system was hampered by persistent injuries.
Victoria will be captained by VFL and Werribee stalwart Dom Brew while the SANFL will be led out by former Richmond forward and ex-St Bernard's boy Liam McBean.
You can catch the game from 3:15pm AEST (2:45pm ACST) at Barossa Park after the North Melbourne vs Gold Coast match.
