In an AFL leadership bombshell, Luke Beveridge was earlier this week linked with replacing the under-fire Simon Goodwin after the club’s horror 0-5 start to the season.
The Western Bulldogs coach has spoken on the matter, outrightly denying all rumours of a potential move to Melbourne.
In a press conference ahead of Round 6, Beveridge squandered the talks, suggesting that he will not entertain a move elsewhere.
"I don't know where it's come from, but ultimately our players and people that I work with understand and know that I'm totally invested here," Beveridge said on Thursday.
"We went into the year just feeling our way through and understanding that we've got to find what's right for everyone.
"On a personal note, you don't stay where you're not welcome. From a club perspective, they've got more to consider than just my personal interests.
"And ultimately if I'm not coaching here next year, I won't be coaching anywhere else."
The comments come just days after reports that Melbourne were eyeing off the premiership coach, with the club looking into a potential replacement to take the reins of the winless Demons.
“I have no doubt that Luke Beveridge is now very much on Melbourne's radar,” Wilson said on Channel 7's Agenda Setters.
“It's too early to be calling Simon Goodwin finished at the Melbourne Football Club, but club bosses are now anticipating that as a possibility, and they are declaring that Luke Beveridge would very much be an option for them.”
Beveridge is out of contract at the end of the 2025 season.
