WATCH: Aussie icons take the icy plunge for Big Freeze 11

Today, the AFL world unites, supporting the great Neale Daniher in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

In one of the nation's great traditions, a range of Australian icons come together to take the plunge, heading down the slide into the ice bath as part of the annual Big Freeze event at the MCG.

Before we head to the King's Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood, here's a look at all the sliders braving the cold as part of Big Freeze 11!

Ariarne Titmus

Australia's golden girl was first to take the plunge, taking to waters far colder than usual!

Fitting the theme of Australian icons, Titmus geared up as Grease's 'Sandy Olsson', famously played by the late great Olivia Newton-John!

Cadel Evans

From the Tour de France to the MCG, the great cyclist was second down the slide, and didn't he stir up the crowd!

Geared up in full Demon gear, Evans repped the great Max Gawn, just an hour before the real Gawny takes the field!

Peter Daicos

Why so serious? The Collingwood legend was next up, to the delight of the Magpie faithful!

With a face full of makeup, the great Peter Daicos hit the water as 'The Joker', reflecting film icon Heath Ledger!

Matt Nable

How about that for an entrance! From the field, to the screen and now to the slide, Matty Nable took the plunge!

Hitting the ice, Nable represented old school rock as the great Angus Young from AC/DC!

Liz Watson

A Diamond in the ice, Liz Watson strayed far from the courts en route to the slide!

Taking on the challenge in Barbie pink, the Aussie netball captain hit the water as Aussie actor Margot Robbie!

Matt Shirvington

Not quite the fastest this guy's ever moved...

The television great and iconic sprinter took the hammer to the slide as Chris Hemsworth's 'Thor'!

Alyssa Healy

No stranger to the 'G, the great Aussie cricketer hit the slide in style!

Rocking the neck brace, Healy suited up as 'Kath and Kim' star Sharon Strzelecki, played by the wonderful Magda Szubanski!

Aaron Davey

One of the great Demons, the Flash was next up to head down the slide!

Barefoot and bouncy, Davey dressed as Essendon and AFL legend Michael Long!

Craig Lowndes

Three time Supercar Champion, seven time Bathurst 1000 winner, one time Big Freeze slider!

Craig Lowndes entered the water as 'Mad Max', representing the great Mel Gibson!

Mark Taylor

No stranger to the slips, Tubs was the final slider for Big Freeze 11!

10th up to bat, Taylor entered the water dressed as his great mate Shane Warne!
