Who are the most important players entering September?
As the top nine teams continue to divide themselves from the rest of the pack, majority will begin to plan their approach towards finals football, resting veterans and stars alike to ensure a clean run into the back-end of the year.
With the post-season rapidly approaching, SEN's Crunch Time team Cam Luke, Josh Jenkins and Scott Lucas have named the players they believe will be the most important figures for each of the top nine teams within their September action.
See their selections below:
Luke: Nick Daicos
Jenkins: Darcy Moore
“I think the true strength of their team this year is their ability to get back to their systemic defence. If Moore can be bold and dashing and taking the game on, taking intercept marks and taking ground back for them, as the captain that’s a big positive for me.”
Lucas: Nick Daicos
Luke: Eric Hipwood
“Logan Morris could just keep going, kick 20 goals in a finals series and they are not going to miss Joe Daniher. But, at some point I have a concern that the Joe Daniher not being there is going to hurt them just a smidge.
“Eric Hipwood, just to bob up at some point, give a goal or two and help out a young kid 30 games into his career, I think is really important.”
Jenkins: Cam Rayner
“He lit it up in September last year.”
Lucas: Harris Andrews
Luke: Jeremy Cameron

Luke: Will Day
“Will Day is their best player. He is their A-Grade guy.
“If he gets back and gets a month at it, they can win it. Without him, I think the prelim is the ceiling.”
Jenkins: Dylan Moore
“I don’t think Hawthorn’s midfield is A-Grade in its totality.
“I’ve watched them use him a bit more around the ball lately, he’s got that small forward mindset around stoppage, ‘go and get at the opposition’, and that’s really valuable around the ball.
“And we know his credentials going forward.”
Lucas: Lloyd Meek
“Xerri has torn a lot of ruckman new ones, and I thought Meek was very good.”
Luke: Jordan Dawson
“Jordan Dawson should be the Brownlow favourite. He has been at a high, high level.
“If Jordan Dawson rips a September apart, Adelaide can go very close.
Jenkins: Izak Rankine
“He’s going six and a half out of ten at the moment, which is still better than most.”
Lucas: Jordan Dawson
Luke: Sam Darcy
Jenkins: Sam Darcy
Lucas: Sam Darcy
Luke: Sam Collins
Jenkins: Bailey Humphrey
“He looks a difference maker, and I may be 12 months too early.”
Lucas: Noah Anderson
Luke: Luke Jackson
Jenkins: Shai Bolton
“He is their mid-forward difference-maker”.
Lucas: Luke Jackson
Luke: Sam Taylor
“I think he is the best defender in the game.”
Jenkins: Toby Greene
Lucas: Finn Callaghan
