North Melbourne youngster Jackson Archer has suffered a season-ending blow, tearing his ACL during the Kangaroos pre-season training over the weekend.

The 23-year-old returned alongside teammates to recommence pre-season training on Thursday, spending just two days on the track before suffering a significant knee injury on Saturday.

Last season, Archer, son of legendary Roo Glenn, only managed three games due to repeat injuries. Scans have confirmed that he will now require a full knee reconstruction and won’t return to play until 2027.

North Melbourne released the following statement on Monday morning:

North Melbourne defender Jackson Archer has sustained a ruptured ACL during the club’s return to pre-season training.

Archer injured his right knee during a session at Arden Street on Saturday, with scans confirming the extent of the injury.

The club will continue to support Archer as he meets with the medical team this week to work through his rehab program.

Archer has managed just 26 games in four seasons with North Melbourne.
