Titans' captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui has officially re-committed to the Gold Coast Titans, ending months of speculation.
The Titans' captain has confirmed he has committed to the Gold Coast, rejecting an option to go to market and committing to the Titans until the end of the 2030 season.
Fa'asuamaleaui's future has been the talk of the rumour mill for months, with the Perth Bears a leading contender for the Origin forward's signature.
The 25-year-old has played 111 games in his NRL career, 84 of which for the Titans.
"The Titans mean a lot to me and my family, and my goal has never changed since coming to the club... I want to remain loyal and be part of the team that delivers premiership success to the Gold Coast," Fa’asuamaleaui said.
"To achieve that, I want to do everything I can to build a winning culture and that’s why I’ve put to bed all the speculation around my future before we start the season.
"I’m fully committed to the Titans and genuinely believe we have so much potential with the long-term playing roster we’re assembling and Josh at the helm.
"I’ve particularly enjoyed the environment he’s created since returning to pre-season training, especially his emphasis on our connection with just not ourselves as a playing group, but also to our wider staff, members and community.
"Being part of this club is a huge honour and I’m excited about what lies ahead as we continue our pursuit of NRL premiership success."
Speaking on SENQ Breakfast this morning, Titans' coach Josh Hannay said he was confident Fa'asuamaleaui would re-sign due to how much leading the team means to him.
"My language around Tino's been consistent from day one in that I've not heard anything from him or seen anything from him since I've got here that suggests he wants to be anywhere, other than here on the Gold Coast," Hannay said.
"I know skippering this club means a lot to him. I know, seeing this club, become a force and successful is important to him.
"He's done the hard yards over the last 4-6 years... he wants to be here, that's what he's communicated to me.
"I think naturally there's been a frustration from him, maybe over the last 12 months in particular around... a sense that the club wasn't moving forward, that they were sort of stuck in this constant state of repetition around poor performance.
"I've got a really long relationship with Tino, we go back 10 years, so it's probably a little bit more than a coach-player relationship, to be honest.
"We've had some really honest conversations, and I'm really confident that he's going to commit his future to the club for the short-term and the long-term."
