Kane Cornes has coined a new footy term - The Roadblock.

He is talking about players who might not be suited by the fast-paced nature of the modern game.

Cornes listed the 10 players in his roadblock category after the opening few rounds of the 2026 season.

“We’ve all heard about the list clogger, but I want to introduce a new term to football and this is ‘The Roadblock’,” Cornes said on Channel 7’s Agenda Setters.

“The midfielders that are the roadblocks in your side with the new rules. I’ve got some names on watch that are now no longer helping their team or at risk of hurting their team.

“These players were terrific back in the day, they were magnificent in the early 2000s, even five years ago.

“If you’re a ball stopping mid you’re in all sorts of trouble.

“The jury is out on a couple. I’ll give you Patrick Cripps because he’s a Hall of Famer, but the next iteration of his career is going to be interesting.

“Levi Ashcroft is on watch. He needs to really explode from stoppage. At the moment he’s hack kicking too much.

“If you don't have speed, if you don't have power, if you can't get out of a contest, if you're a high handball, low-kick, low-penetration player... you're in trouble.

“These players are on notice.”
