Tui Kamikamica will be released from hospital this afternoon as doctors rule out any link between the Storm's latest game and his medical emergency.

Kamikamica was rushed to hospital on Monday morning after he suffered a suspected stroke at home where he received treatment from hospital specialists.

Doctors have ruled out any incident in Melbourne's Saturday game contributing to his injury, with the 31-year-old having played his 142nd game against the Cowboys on Saturday night.

Melbourne Storm GM Frank Ponissi provided a positive update on Kamikamica's health, saying the forward is recovering well.

"He's made a remarkable recovery," Ponissi told SEN.

"He's still got a long way to go, but in terms of where he was Monday morning after his medical episode and (being) rushed to hospital, it's quite remarkable.

"He's getting released from hospital today into some rehab, so he'll go to a rehab centre and start some more rehab but also get assessed.

"The doctors have ruled out anything coming from the game, or travel or any conditions like that. It's purely a medical episode that he had an underlying issue, but as I said, remarkable recovery in such a short period of time.

"(I) visited him in hospital yesterday. He's in great spirits and he's ready to undertake his rehab from this afternoon onwards.

"It was concerning at the time, but we've just been pleased to see how quickly he's recovered."

"It's a bit early to say (on the name of his condition). The doctor's a bit guarded on exactly what that'll be, but it could potentially be (a heart issue).

"It's certainly, as I said before, (an) underlying medical issue that he's had that he wasn't aware of, but his partner did a great work calling the ambulance quickly, and that's a lesson in itself.

"That period of time that they got him to hospital was really important and probably his age and also he's incredibly fit...he is in fantastic condition, all those factors would have played in his ability to recover as the way he has."

The Fiji international has played 142 games for the Storm across 10 seasons having been a constant within the forward pack.

He's played in all four games for Melbourne this season.

The Storm released an official club statement on Monday.

"Melbourne Storm can confirm that forward Tui Kamikamica is currently in hospital following a medical episode on Monday morning," a club statement read.

"He has undergone treatment for a suspected stroke and is recovering in hospital.

"Tui is receiving the best possible care and is being supported by hospital specialists, alongside the Club’s medical staff.

"The Club asks that Tui’s privacy is respected at this time.

"Further updates will be provided when appropriate."
