The 2026 Group 1 Blue Diamond winner and Group 1 Golden Slipper runner-up, Streisand, has been purchased by Yulong Investments, alongside other gun two-year-old Paradoxium.

In recent times, Yulong have transferred some of their purchases to the Chris Waller stable, such as Private Harry and Angel Capital.

Will the Clinton McDonald-trained Streisand be next?

This isn’t unfamiliar territory for McDonald, as he was the original trainer of Angel Capital, guiding the bay to four victories out of his first seven runs, but after the stallion was snapped up by Yulong, they swapped Angel Capital’s stable to Chris Waller.

The trainer joined SENTrack & RSN's Giddy Up with Gareth Hall and was asked if history will repeat itself.

“I don't think (Yulong will send the horse to Chris Waller),” the trainer revealed.

“Obviously Chris is an amazing trainer (but) Angel Capital has been a bit unlucky. I think with Streisand, they can see the success we've had with her and the way that we've placed her.

“There's other trainers there; Matt Laurie with Treasurethe Moment, so they can't all go to Chris!

“I think that the horse will be safe with me as long as I keep doing a good job. At the end of the day it's about results – if you're not getting the results, you don't keep the horse – I’m fine with that and I'm happy to back myself in.”

When reflecting on the purchase of the filly itself, McDonald revealed that majority of the previous owners were happy to let the two-year-old go to Yulong.

“It’s been an interesting week - it's one of those ones where it came sort of left field. The question was asked (by Yulong), ‘could Streisand be bought?’” McDonald explained.

“We had to go to all the owners and speak to them individually and get a vote off them. It was an overwhelming yes, which surprised me a little bit.

“It's not an easy decision for any owner, but it was an overwhelming (yes). It was probably an 85% majority that wanted to sell.

“The biggest kickback was from the big fella Gardi (Michael Gardiner), he definitely didn't want to sell.

“Overall, I think it was a good decision for everyone involved.”

Streisand is racing on Saturday at Randwick in the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes for Clint McDonald.
