Having played 347 games for the Broncos (the second most in the club's history), it's hard to imagine Corey Parker playing in anything but maroon and gold.

But as the legendary forward has revealed, two offers from rival clubs nearly made him switch his allegiances.

Parker made his NRL debut in 2001 at the age of 18 and proved to be a handy addition off the bench, having made 13 appearances for the then reigning premiers, which included all three of their finals matches.

With his performances, he caught the eye of several NRL clubs, who attempted to pry him out of Red Hill.

Two of those clubs, in particular, were the Melbourne Storm and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Both offered significantly more cash than the Broncos, with the Storm offering more than double.

But as Parker explains, his pride in playing for Brisbane was simply too much to pass up.

“There was two offers from rival clubs,” Parker revealed on a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything).

“One was the Bulldogs, and one was the Melbourne Storm.

“From my point of view, I'd played 10 games at that point in my career. All I ever wanted to do was play for Brisbane, and I'd signed for Brisbane to stay for $80,000.

“The Bulldogs offered me $180k and the Melbourne Storm was $200k, and I stayed for $80k at the Brisbane Broncos.

“At the time, I thought if I can make it at Brisbane, I'll make it anywhere, because it was such a powerhouse team to break into.

“But I was tempted by those two offers.”
