Cam Luke

CAULFIELD

Race 3 | 7. Celtics

He is crying out for 1400m and finally gets there! Had no luck down the Flemington straight last start and is drawn tomorrow where he won't do any work but will need a little luck. I'd think that Craig Williams will try and box seat him and stalk. The fence is a watch and especially with the rain they might be coming away from the fence so Willo will need to be creative. He has handled the heavy but this is tougher than that day! He is fit and ready to have a dip at the seven furlongs and if the fence is ok I expect him to go very close!

Race 4 | 3. A Diva

Didn’t run the 2000m out last start in a tougher race and back to the 1600m with a softish lead bodes well. Wet track wont hurt her and neither will the drop in weight with the added 1.5kg claim of a jockey riding well. Only been to Caulfield the once and she ran well behind Terilee in a very similar race. She might have been a tad disappointing this prep but I think she gets a real good chance to be tough to get past with a nice setup!

Race 8 | 12. Bustling

Was pretty good resuming last start after a long long break and today setup is a lot more appealing. There isn't a huge amount of speed in the race so the big weight drop will allow Craig Williams to be proactive and sit right the back of the lead. Drawn a little wider won't hurt as I am assuming they'll come down the middle of the track late. He has the added fitness, up to 1100m, and the class to win this.

EAGLE FARM

Race 3 | 2. Royal Supremacy

I liked his second up run where he hit a flat spot and then was really good through the line. Up to 2400m is a big tick and he always runs well third up. The heavy track is no issue and he will drift back so the wide gate doesn’t concern me as the superstar Mark Zahra will find cover. Last time at 2400m he ran fifth in the Caulfield Cup and there is no horse in this race with that class. Very Keen!

Race 4 | 4. Martist

Was brilliant last start when drawn wide and almost won the race on the line, twp things are a big plus here, better gate and up to 1400m! He will settle a lot closer and will stalk the speed of which I think there will be a bit! He strikes me as a horse who will not only enjoy 1400m but to the mile of a JJ. Last race was on a Soft 7 so little question on a heavy track but toe into ground didn’t seem to slow him last start and I doubt it does here! Blind Raise could be anything and deserves fave but nearly seven weeks between runs, first time QLD and tricky gate has me taking him on here.

Race 5 | 9. Militarize

Granted he doesn't win much these days but this is the easiest race he has contested for a while. Was really good in the Doncaster and trialled well before going around in the Hollindale and being ok late. Stays at the 1800m and the heavy track is one he enjoys albeit a while ago now. I would expect maybe JMac tries to use the gate to be proactive and a little closer to the front than he has been recently. Future History is one who will speed map really nicely and won't be far off them but Militarize has found his race!

Race 7 | 12. Accidental Bid (win) / 9. Amazake (each-way/top 5)

I think it's a very open Derby but I do think Ciaron Maher will win it!

Accidental Bid will be better for s shorter turnaround after he was soft late in the Rough Habit. Drawn perfectly and will probably settle a little better than he did last start after he was hurried from a wide gate. I doubt they will crawl in front as much today like they did last start as well and that will work. His form heading into the SA derby was hyped up to a high level and I think we will see more of his potential here than we did two weeks back. He will go very close!

I've backed Amazake a few times this prep and he has been better than probably looked upon. The heavy track is a little question but his run on a pretty damp track in a SA derby was good. Was about travel into the race and then got pushed back to last on the corner. Got going late and this is tougher but always a tail with 3yo classics and he doesn’t have an issue with the distance. The speed will be enough to give him a chance to run home late and I will be using the More places feature at Sportsbet to great effect!

Race 8 | 7. Transatlantic (each-way)

This is a race that I can't see any land speed records being broken and it will suit a horse who can travel on speed and this bloke is that! He was pretty good resuming and will be fitter with a really good record second up! Enjoys the heavy and he hit a flat spot and I think up to 1300m will help that. I am a little nervous that Tony Gollan has him ready to rip the Stradbroke apart in two weeks but that can go for a few of them. It's a very open deep race as a G1 should be but the speed map works really well for him and he is uber talented and expect him to go very close.

ROSEHILL

Race 10 | 9. Hay Street

Was pretty good last start behind a smart one and I expect back up to the 1200m works. He handles toe into the ground and I am assuming later in the day the wide gate he has might be an advantage. Keeps knocking on the door and deserves another win. He is fit and won his only visit here.

David Taggart

CAULFIELD

Race 3 | 2. Bel Mezyaan (BEST)

Ran out of his skin last start when he missed in a harder race to this to an in-form galloper. From listed grade to basically a 70 he should have these covered as he looks the best horse in the race.

Race 4 | 4. Belle Savoir (value)

Hits this third up where she has some form and drops back to her own sex. She wasn’t disgraced last start in a better race and she will handle the conditions. She’s well worth an each-way play at the odds.

ROSEHILL

Race 5 | 1. Duvana

Was good first up and he has better second up form. He won his maiden on a heavy by 4.5 lengths and he gets in well after the three kilo claim. Should travel midfield and is a huge chance.

Race 9 | 4. Zambardo

Steps up to a more suitable trip as he hits this third up where he has had a win. Did push Via Sistina in the heavy over this trip last prep in a G1 which puts him in good stead for this.

Race 10 | 13. Applaud (value)

Resumes and is ready to go. Won in this grade fresh last campaign and in undefeated on heavy tracks albeit they were in easier races. He’s the value in the race.
