IRAN 2-2 NEW ZEALAND

  • New Zealand are unbeaten in their past four WC matches with four draws.
  • This was the fourth draw from four Matchday 5 fixtures.

SAUDI ARABIA 1-1 URUGUAY

Goals: A.Al Amri - KSA (41'), M.Araujo - URU (80')

Man of the Match: Federico Valverde (URU)

  • Uruguay fired off 27 shots, with Saudi Arabia's goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais making nine saves.
  • Uruguay keeper Fernando Muslera became the oldest from his nation to play at the World Cup at 39 years and 364 days.

BELGIUM 1-1 EGYPT

Goals: E.Ashour - EGY (20'), M.Hany - BEL (66' OG)

Man of the Match: Emam Ashour (EGY)

  • Belgium's goal came within 22 seconds of Romelu Lukaku coming on as a sub. He didn't score it but his presence forced the own-goal from Hany.
  • European nations have now won just three games out of 10 so far at this World Cup.

SPAIN 0-0 CAPE VERDE

Goals: Nil

Man of the Match: Vozinha (CPV)

  • Spain had 27 shots on goal, the most at a World Cup without scoring.
  • Spanish striker Mikel Oyarzabal became the first player since 1966 to go the first 30 minutes of a World Cup match without a single touch.
  • 40-year-old Cape Verde keeper Vozinha's performance saw his Instagram following jump from 50k to 1.9m during the match. He now has 5.2m followers.

  • Yasan Asiri, who scored two in his World Cup debut, was born to a Tunisian father. He turned down a call-up with Tunisia to represent his birth nation.

  • Japan came from behind twice to earn a deserved point.
  • This was the first World Cup match in which the Dutch had not fielded a player based in the Netherlands in the starting lineup.

  • Ivory Coast claim their first ever World Cup win over a South American nation

  • Germany matched their iconic 7-1 scoreline from their triumphant Semi Final win over Brazil in 2014.
  • Curacao made their official World Cup debut after qualifying for the first time in the nation's history, becoming the smallest nation for both size and population to ever play in a World Cup.

  • Scotland claim their first World Cup win since 1990.
