David King has named his Top 5 coaches of the 2026 AFL season so far.

King was given the task on SEN’s Fireball and was confident in the quintet he named.

“The top five coaches in order,” King said.

1 - Justin Longmuir (Fremantle)

“He has had a great year. They sit top of the table and well clear.”

2 - Steven King (Melbourne)

“What he’s had to put up with, what he’s had to work with and what they’ve done has been remarkable.”

3 - Chris Fagan (Brisbane Lions)

“For the return to form of the Lions over the last few weeks.

“It would have been some sort of management challenge four weeks ago. He’s done a great job.”

4 - Dean Cox (Sydney Swans)

“I’ve still got ‘Coxy’ at four. I still think the way they’re playing is going to give them an opportunity late in the season.”

5 - Josh Carr (Port Adelaide)

“With what he’s got to work with, without the captain (Connor Rozee), he’s getting full tote odds out of this star factor players and doing a great job.”

Co-host Kane Cornes would have made one change.

“I would have had Craig McRae at five,” he said.

Longmuir currently has the Dockers sitting top with a 14-2 record, King has the 10-6 Demons sixth in his first year, Fagan has the back-to-back Lions back on track at 10-6, Cox has the Swans in second at 13-3 and Carr has won six games in his debut campaign with the Power.
