Geelong enter discussions over cutting troubled star's contract

Geelong has commenced conversations with the management of troubled star Tyson Stengle, with his career as a Cat expected to come to an end.

As reported by AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey, Geelong has opened talks to cut the remainder of Stengle's contract - who has not managed to feature at AFL level this season amid personal battles.

After featuring at VFL level as recently as June, Stengle appeared on track to return to football at the latter stages of the season.

However, after missing a flight before a VFL outing the following week and now returning to his home state South Australia, Stengle's life as a Cat appears to be trending towards an abrupt end.

Stengle still has three years, with a reported $700,000 a year remaining on his Geelong contract, with the Cats and Stengle's management reportedly closing in on an agreement to cut the deal short.

In his 93 games for the Cats, Stengle has kicked 160 goals, booting four in their 2022 Grand Final win over the Swans.

This report closely follows news out of Collingwood that fellow troubled small forward Bobby Hill is on the verge of an end to his time as a Magpie.
