Former Collingwood AFLW captain Steph Chiocci makes her return to the big stage in the 2026 Legends Game.
Chiocci has been named to play in the Big V, and it’s her first proper game of footy since injuring her ACL in 2024 which brought an end to her eight year AFLW career.
The now 37-year-old played 61 games at the top level, with 55 games at Collingwood where she served as the club’s inaugural captain across her time in black and white.
Now three years on from playing on the big stage, Chiocci is pinching herself that she’ll feature alongside some of the code’s greats on August 27 at Marvel Stadium.
“To be fair, I’ve stayed active,” Chiocci told This is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers.
“I officially retired in November 2024, but never returned after my ACL reconstruction, so I am a little nervy.
“I’ve been to a few VFL training at the Sandringham Zebras and had a bit of a run around there.
“This will be my first game I think in three years, so we will see how I go.
“I’m absolutely looking forward to it, I saw the line-up the other day and I’m pinching myself, it’s what dreams are made of.
“I feel like this is my pinnacle! It will be fun to run out there with some absolute superstars like Dusty and Fev who is my childhood hero… and he knows that too.
“It’s going to be great, and for a wonderful cause as well.”
Chiocci spoke about her career and much more on this week’s episode.
