Club B&Fs: The stars who could make history

The AFL season is over for 14 of the 18 clubs, and with the end of the campaign comes best and fairest night.

So far we have had three clubs - Port Adelaide, GWS and West Coast - who have held their end-of-season awards events.

While we wait for other results, let's take a look at the history that could be made at some of the clubs.

Malcolm Blight Medal

Captain Jordan Dawson became the first Crow to win three in a row last year. He is a strong chance to create more history by winning a fourth straight Malcolm Blight Medal in 2026.

Dawson's trio of wins leads the way alongside Andrew McLeod, Mark Ricciuto, Simon Goodwin and Rory Laird meaning a fourth would have him outright on top.

Merrett-Murray Medal
Thursday, October 1

Dayne Zorko leads the way at the Lions with five. He is highly unlikely to add to that this year, but Lachie Neale is a strong chance of joining him.

Neale has won four Merrett-Murray Medals (2019, 2020, 2022 & 2024) as well as two Doug Medals at Fremantle for a total of six in his career.

Will Ashcroft could take out his first best and fairest if Neale doesn't win.

John Nicholls Medal
Sunday, October 4

Captain Patrick Cripps has won an equal club high five John Nicholls Medals, alongside the man himself.

It's entirely possible Cripps creates Carlton history by making it six.

Sam Walsh is the main danger and could add to his 2021 triumph.

Copeland Trophy

Nick Daicos is almost a moral to claim his second Copeland Trophy.

He ran a close second to Darcy Cameron last year, but given he's an unbackable Brownlow favourite you'd think he'd take out his club best and fairest.

Crichton Medal
Thursday, October 1

Zach Merrett has won six Crichton Medals including the last three. He looks a very strong hope to add another to his tally in what could possibly be his last season in red and black.

If he does win, he'll join Bill Hutchison and Dick Reynolds on seven which is the club record.

Doig Medal
TBC

All-Australian quintet Luke Jackson, Josh Treacy, Jordan Clark, Shai Bolton and Murphy Reid are all in the running to win a maiden Doig.

Caleb Serong has won the past three but is unlikely to make it four straight.

Carji Greeves Medal
Thursday, October 1

Last year's runner-up Bailey Smith should break through for his maiden senior best and fairest.

Fellow All-Australian Ollie Dempsey is some chance.

Max Holmes has won two on the trot but missed five games.

Gold Coast Club Champion

Prized recruit Christian Petracca could quite possibly strike in his first year at the Suns. He won two B&Fs at Melbourne.

There's no real standout this year, so any of Noah Anderson, Bodhi Uwland, John Noble, Touk Miller or Matt Rowell could potentially win.

Kevin Sheedy Medal

All-Australian Lachie Ash took home his first Kevin Sheedy Medal, narrowly beating underrated defender Connor Idun. Off-season recruit Clayton Oliver, who won four B&Fs at Melbourne, finished third.

All-Australians Jarman Impey and Nick Watson are both in the mix win their first club B&F.

Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Trophy
Friday, October 2

Inspirational skipper Max Gawn has tallied three Bluey Truscotts which includes last year.

He is a strong chance of making it four which would draw him level with Allan La Fontaine, fellow ruckman Jim Stynes and former teammate Clayton Oliver.

Kysaiah Pickett is the main danger. He is yet to win a senior B&F.

Syd Barker Medal
Wednesday, September 30

Reigning champ Harry Sheezel (joint winner with Tristan Xerri) looks nicely placed to make it three Syd Barkers.

If Sheezel does win, he would become the youngest Roo ever at 21 to win three B&Fs, surpassing Andrew Swallow who was 25 when he won his third in 2012.

It looks Sheezel's for the taking but there will be competition from Luke Davies-Uniacke.

John Cahill Medal

Former No.1 draft pick Jason Horne-Francis won his first John Cahill Medal, edging out reigning three-time winner (and the departing) Zak Butters.

Jack Dyer Medal

Tim Taranto won two Jack Dyer Medals in his first three seasons at the Tigers including last year. He is every chance of making it three in four.

The last Tiger to win three in four seasons was premiership captain Trent Cotchin between 2011 and 2014.

Trevor Barker Award
Monday, October 5

Co-captain Cal Wilkie is in the mix to win his second Trevor Barker after claiming the award in 2024.

He'll have strong competition from last year's winner Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera as well as Max Hall who would be a first-time winner.

Bob Skilton Medal
Thursday, October 1

Reigning back-to-back champ Isaac Heeney is a strong chance of making it three on the trot. If he wins he will become the first Swan since Gerard Healy in 1988 to complete the three-peat.

Brodie Grundy is in the Bob Skilton race up to his eyeballs. He won two Copeland Trophies at Collingwood.

John Worsfold Medal

Former No.1 pick Harley Reid claimed his first John Worsfold Medal, comfortably beating Jake Waterman with Tim Kelly in third.
