Which clubs or players should be in panic stations right now?

Kane Cornes and Sam Edmund went over a few different footy topics and came up with a panic ranking out of 10.

“This is off the back of Connor Rozee jetting off overseas 213 days after he did a hammy,” Cornes aid on SEN Breakfast.

Connor Rozee’s hamstring

Cornes: “I’m a 7 out of 10. It’s clearly not healing properly.”

Edmund: “I’m an 8 out of 10. It was in Round 2…

“Maybe it’s just to dot a couple of i’s and cross some t’s. We don’t know the exact motivations behind going.

“But the fact he is going months on is a concern, a big concern.”

Cornes: “Another one of those long-term deals that is working out really well for the clubs that get sucked into doing those.”

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera’s possible St Kilda exit… again

Edmund: “Nas leaving is more than a 5, I’ll say 6.5.”

Cornes: “I’m a 6. I really hope he stays, I really do… but we’ll see.”

Edmund: “More broadly with St Kilda, they haven’t won a final since 2020, they loaded in last year’s trade period.

“They’ve signed Jake Stringer which you’d acknowledge is a little bit of desperation. Nas is out? Ross (Lyon) is out?

“Just feels like all roads have just led to the 2027 season. It’s a massive season.”

Sydney’s locker room

Edmund: “2.5. Miniscule.”

Cornes: “How those players integrate back into the group and the effect that has.

“I’m 6.5. You’ve seen what the replacements did in the finals. They’re just going to welcome back these other guys?

“There’s going to be some angst about them letting them down in the season. There’s going to be headlines, there’s going to be questions at media conferences, we’re going to follow Isaac Heeney’s girlfriend overseas.

“Panic stations more than a 2 for the locker room culture.”

Edmund: “Non-issue.”

Impending Gold Coast exodus

Cornes: “Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson, and more broadly, players deserting that club.”

Edmund: “It’s come back upon them quickly, hasn’t it? 6.”

Cornes: “I’m about a 6.”

Sam Darcy’s body

Edmund: “3.5.”

Cornes: “I’m an 8.”

Edmund: “What information have you received to have you up near a 10?”

Cornes: “Nothing. Is he just a unique athlete whose body is not suited to the rigours of playing AFL football.

“You know I am seat 1A . He is the player I’ve got my fingers crossed the most for. Is he Max King? Is he going to be able to compete with three opponents?

“Can he land on his legs and not do his knee? Is he going to get 250 games out of his body?

“I’m just an 8.”

Edmund: “Or is he a player who has had a knee reco and he’ll come back and be fine?”

Cornes: “Could be, but he’s had a couple of serious knee injuries in back-to-back seasons.

“So I think it’s more than just that. The way he contorts his body, the way that he lands on one foot, the way his knee hyperextends.”

North Melbourne’s lack of key defenders

Edmund: “7.5… no, 8.

“It can’t be any less, can it, than what it’s been…

“They went so hard to get Jordon Butts, they did everything they could.”

Cornes: “I think their actions show you the panic stations level. They were going to give up so much for a player who couldn’t get a game at Adelaide.

“Extraordinary stuff.”

Jeremy Cameron washed up?

Edmund: “I’m going to put that at around a 6.

“I actually think he’ll come back pretty well. If it wasn’t for that one arm would we be saying he was washed up?

“He still managed a pretty good season under duress.”

Cornes: “I’m a 5. I think he’s going to come back strongly.

“But I just had to ask the question. He’s over 30, form declining, body issues.”

Essendon in general

Cornes: “Yeah, 9.

“It’s got two wins written all over it.”

Edmund: “You just worry about the blowouts too. Two wins is two wins but then there’s two wins when you have a percentage of 50.

“They’ll be so inexperienced. Talented but inexperienced.”

Matthew Nicks’ position

Edmund: “8.”

Adem Yze’s position

Cornes: “Not as much as Nicks. He’s got a fraction more time. 7.”

New Brisbane coach

Cornes: “It’s an awful job to get. Some say it’s a great job.

“If you win the premiership they’ll say, ‘Yeah, ok, well done’. That is a high bar to walk into, thinking that is the expectation .

“And if you don’t achieve that it’s going to look like a failure. Tough gig to get.

“I’d rather take on North. North is the best job to get. Or Essendon. Start from the bottom and build yourself up.”

Edmund: “Rubbish.

“You know hat this dislike? It’s like when someone goes bankrupt in Monopoly and you inherit Mayfair and Park Lane. You’re not going to say no, are you?

“Brisbane are Mayfair and Park Lane with hotels on them!”

Collingwood’s dysfunctional football department

Edmund: “I don’t have a great line of sight on this.”

Collingwood’s AFLW department

Edmund: “Yeah, 8.8.”

Cones: “Ruby (Schleicher) is out…”
