Brisbane midfielder Mitch Robinson used his interest in gaming to raise money for the bushfire crisis.
A frequent streamer on the platform Twitch, Robinson went live on his channel for 24 straight hours playing various games.
The 30-year-old raised $15,000 through donations and said he wanted to find a way to contribute to the cause.
“Obviously there’s some pretty bad bushfires going on that everyone knows about and my brother and I were sitting back and thinking how we can do our part,” Robinson told SEN Breakfast.
“We thought we would try something different and try and do something for 24 hours which was play video games and stay awake and try and raise as much money as we could for the Rural Fire Service and the bushfire victims.
“It was a little bit challenging towards the end. We ran out of things to play and talk about, but we raised $15,000 from it and it was pretty heart-warming to do that.
“I didn’t think I would be able to get through (the 24 hours) as well as I did, so it was a few coffees and a big shout to my partner who woke up every now and then and made me some food because I didn’t really leave the computer chair.”

For the uninitiated, Robinson explained how it all worked.
“I had a thing called Streamlabs set up for people to be able to donate. (Twitch) is a platform you can game on and you can donate through that and they would donate $1, $5, we had donations upwards of $1000 and people could leave messages and I could read them out on my game platform,” he said.
“We had Jamie Elliott come in around 7am and donate $100. Just things like that made it all worth it.
“We played Fortnite, Counter Strike, we played some marbles, did some word games and a lot of variety in there just to keep things fresh and it was really fun.
“All in all, people loved when we were just chatting to each other. We had 3000 viewers at one stage and we had a few big YouTubers who came over and donated and hosted us which was pretty cool.”
