There's no reason why Paddy Dow shouldn't be playing for Carlton, according to Blues great Greg Williams.
Dow, selected with the third pick overall in the 2017 draft, last played at AFL level in Carlton’s Round 1 loss to Richmond and hasn't been seen since the season restart because of a knee injury.
Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Williams has high hopes for the 20-year-old midfielder who made a successful return in a scratch match against West Coast last Sunday.
“I think it’s a maturity thing with him. He should be playing," the dual Brownlow Medallist said.
“He’s got to earn his spot … I’m not there at the moment but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be playing and if he’s not, another pre-season will help him.
“It’s a maturity thing but he’s got power that kid, he’s quick and skilful.”
Dow’s best on ground performance in last weekend’s hit out has put him in contention to face Fremantle on Saturday night in what is a must-win match for the Blues.
Two consecutive defeats to Hawthorn and the Eagles saw David Teague’s side drop to 13th on the ladder.
