Lyon and Watson make their premiership tips for 2021

Garry Lyon and Tim Watson have named their premiership winners for the 2021 season.

The AFL season gets underway next Thursday night coming off an extraordinary 2020 that culminated in Richmond defeating Geelong at the Gabba in the Grand Final.

Both Lyon and Watson have last year’s Grand Finalists at the top once again, with the former Melbourne captain backing the Cats to win it all.

“I’ve got them (Geelong) winning it,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

“I think they’re going to put themselves in contention, and they always will because they win the requisite number of games because they’re a very good side and have home games in the cat land, and then I just think there’s only going to be a few more chances for these boys.

“We’re just guessing, but that’s where I’ve got them.”

Watson however is backing in Richmond to win a fourth flag in five years.

“I’ve got them right up there competing again, in the top four and competing for another flag,” Watson said.

“I haven’t got them winning it, I’ve got Richmond winning it.”

The Tigers take on the Blues in Round 1, while the Cats travel to take on Adelaide.
