Ollie Wines provides Duursma, Butters injury update after bruising contest

Port Adelaide midfielder Ollie Wines has issued injury updates on Xavier Duursma and Zac Butters, after both left the field and couldn’t return against Richmond on Friday night.

Last year’s minor premiers suffered several injuries throughout the clash with the Tigers, making their two-point win over the reigning premiers all the more special.

Butters was eventually subbed off in the fourth quarter due to an ankle injury Port had tried to manage throughout the game, while Duursma limped off in the final minutes of Friday night’s game with what intially looked like serious knee injury.

Tom Clurey, Connor Rozee and Orazio Fantasia all suffered minor injuries, but were able to play out the match.

Wines told SEN's Crunch Time that the club was confident Duursma had avoided a season-ending ACL injury, and were waiting for scans for further clarification

“I think, touch wood, (Xavier Duursma) from all reports has avoided an ACL (injury) and he’ll get scans today," he said.

“I think (Butters) will be fine, he likes to have a bit of ‘look at me’ time, he’ll have the ice machine on the ankle this week and be right (for next week). He’s tough as nails.

“Both those guys were pivotal in the win, (it was) sad to see them go down late.”
