Jake Stringer is reportedly seeking a four-year contract to stay at Essendon.
According to Fox Footy’s Tom Morris, Stringer could look elsewhere if the Bombers fail to meet the mid-forward’s demand.
“Essendon needs to stump up a 4-year deal for Stringer to stay, is my understanding,” Morris wrote in his Fox Footy trade chat wrap.
"He wants career certainty. If they offer 2 or 3 then he may look elsewhere.”
Rival clubs are reportedly aware of Stringer’s contract situation with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
Bombers GM of Football Josh Mahoney is confident the 27-year-old will remain at Tullamarine beyond 2021.
"He’s a quality player and he’s an important player for us,” Mahoney told SEN Breakfast on May 12.
"He had an interrupted 2020, he had a slow start to this year, but in the three or four games that he’s played you can see how much of an impact player he is.
"There’s no rush on getting him to sign a contract at the moment. He wants to stay at the club, we want Jake, so I think that’ll get done."
Stringer is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
