It’s been a busy day on the retirement front with three AFL veterans calling time on their careers.
It begun with Port Adelaide midfielder Tom Rockliff, who announced in front of the playing group that he would not go on in 2022.
Rockliff has only played the one game for the Power this year, dealing with blood clots and deep vein thrombosis issues.
The 31-year-old played 207 career games for both Port and the Brisbane Lions, captaining the latter.
Former Carlton skipper Marc Murphy was the second to call time, revealing that this weekend’s clash with the Power will be his 300th and final game.
Murphy has been eased to the milestone, serving as the substitute the last few weeks.
The number one draft pick from 2005 finishes his career as an All-Australian and two-time club best and fairest.
Finally, over in the West, Stephen Hill also announced his retirement.
Hill played 218 career games, dealing with ongoing injury issues for the last few years.
The Dockers will farewell the 31-year-old at this weekend’s Derby.
