Marcus Bontempelli has claimed his fourth Western Bulldogs best and fairest, the club captain a runaway winner in Wednesday night’s Charles Sutton Medal count.
He polled 353 votes to finish 57 clear of fellow midfielder Jack Macrae, with Tom Liberatore, Bailey Dale and Caleb Daniel rounding out the top five.
It caps off an incredible season for the 25-year-old, who won the AFL Players’ Association’s most valuable player and finished second in the Brownlow Medal count.
Dogs great Scott West holds the record of seven best and fairests for the club, a number which Bontempelli could surpass at his current rate.
The captain was one of the Bulldogs’ best in their losing Grand Final performance, gathering 25 disposals and kicking three goals to wrestle back the momentum from Melbourne in the second and third quarters.
