Cronulla Sharks co-captain Dale Finucane will on Tuesday announce his retirement from NRL, according to multiple reports.
The Sharks have called a 12:00pm (AEST) press conference where it’s understood Finucane will tell reporters he’s been given medical advice to retire due to repeated head knocks, reports Nine.
He will speak alongside Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon.
Finucane, 32, comes out of contract at the end of the 2025 season and has been cruelled by injuries in recent times, managing only three games so far in 2024 after fracturing his eye socket.
He’s currently in full training, but was not selected to face North Queensland in Round 7.
Finucane will retire with 251 first-grade games to his name, as well as five State of Origin appearances for New South Wales. The veteran forward also bows out as a two-time premiership player.
