Kangaroos coach, Mal Meninga joined SEN to discuss the success of the Australian side in the Pacific Championship.
Meninga spoke with great pride surrounding the Kangaroos side, reflecting on an undefeated run, culminating in a 20-14 victory over Tonga.
“I couldn't wish for anything better. It was tough men playing a tough game,” Meninga said on *SEN1170 Afternoons. *
“I am really proud of the way the players turned up.
“The whole campaign proved to us and the world that we are still number one.”
Meninga named key players including Isaah Yeo, Harry Grant and Tom Trbojevic as those he noticed during the competition, and players he would love to see represent Australia again.
“I was really impressed with the whole group. I love the fact that they all want to play for their country," he added.
“He (Trbojevic) belongs in that arena and he showed why.”
Meninga continues to be a passionate voice behind International football and is confident the excitement these games brought will mean good things for the future of rugby league on the global stage.
“We can’t let this rest. We are doing it for our country and for bigger reasons.”
