The One NZ Warriors will begin Round 8 of the NRL with an Anzac Day clash, at home this time, against the Gold Coast Titans.
Go Media Stadium is set to host what is being reported as the largest contingent of New Zealand Defence Force personnel in the world to commemorate what makes April 25 special to both New Zealand and Australia.
“It’s a special honour for us to host the Anzac Day game again,” Warriors CEO Cameron George said in a statement via the club's website.
“From our viewpoint, it’s appropriate that the NRL should commemorate such an important day for our two nations on both sides of the Tasman.”
The Warriors currently sit a point outside of the top eight in 10th spot, while the Titans are last on the NRL ladder as the only side to chalk up a win yet this season.
It's a special weekend for the Auckland-based club with their Harold Matthews Cup side playing in the grand final of the under-17 competition this Saturday, after a 12-10 win over the Bulldogs punched their ticket to face the Western Suburbs Magpies.
One man who has been keeping a close eye on that side is Future Warriors development coach Tony Iro - this week he joins Sam Hewat and Anthony Gelling on Running It Straight, before the hosts preview the Warriors' Anzac Day clash.
