After retiring in late 2021, Sports commentary icon Ray ‘Rabs’ Warren has answered calls for him to return to the booth for one last time.
Acknowledged by many as ‘The Voice of Rugby League’, Warren’s final Origin call in 2021 saw his total reach 99, one short of the much desired 100th game.
Alongside his 45 NRL Grand Final calls and thousands of regular season games, Warren’s voice during Origin games has become a piece of rugby league folklore.
Speaking to SENQ, Warren admitted that whilst no one has tempted him to come out of retirement, he is confident in his ability to go around one more time.
“Don’t get me wrong, no one has tempted me really,” Warren told SENQ’s Pure Origin.
“Funnily enough I think I could get through an Origin (game) no problem.
“It’s one of the easier games to call because everyone knows the players so well.
“I’ve got no desire to go back and do a Dame Nellie Melba, I don’t think I need that.”
