Lachie Sullivan will make his debut for Collingwood against Carlton on Friday night.
It’s a dream come true for the 26-year-old who has been plying his trade in the VFL for some time and debuts don’t get much bigger than a date with the Blues at the MCG in front of a packed-out Colosseum.
With Jordan De Goey and Tom Mitchell ruled out for Friday night due to injury, it left the door open for a fairytale debut for Sullivan who was taken as a rookie after impressive trials across the pre-season supplemental period (SSP).
Sullivan, a prolific ball-winning midfielder, had been overlooked in both the AFL and Rookie Draft at the end of last year despite a standout season for Footscray but once given the opportunity by Craig McRae and his coaching staff, he hasn’t looked back performing well for Collingwood’s VFL side.
Played all over the ground in his first four games in the black and white, Sullivan has averaged 25 disposals and looks like an ideal sub-option for McCrae.
Carlton stunned the Pies in the last fixture by 17 points with Michael Voss' side making it five wins on the trot at the time with Charlie Curnow starring with five goals.
The Blues head into Friday night as favourites after a strong start to the year.
