After a stellar performance last weekend, the Melbourne Mavericks came home with not only bragging rights, but also the spark they needed to set their season alight.
Fans are beyond excited to welcome the Mavs home, where they will host the Adelaide Thunderbirds in hopes of starting a winning streak of their own.
KEY MATCHUPS:
Shimona Jok V Shamera Sterling-Humphrey
An electric addition in the Mavs’ side, Jok will look to take on the incredible Sterling-Humphrey. Lifting each other’s intensity, neither with fear of going up for a competitive ball, this dynamic duo will be one to keep an eye on this weekend.
Eleanor Cardwell V Latanya Wilson
Coming up against her former club, Cardwell will look to dazzle the crowd with her standout supershots and powerful presence. Standing in her way, the fantastic Latanya Wilson, having already collected 14 intercepts this season, this athlete is known for constantly being on the prowl. However, Cardwell, knowing the Thunderbirds better than anyone, should have no troubles taking control of the game!
A MESSAGE FROM THE COACH:
After a hard fought battle, Head Coach, Tracey Neville in the post game press conference noted that the Mavs “changed and adapted” their game when they made mistakes, which was not evident in previous weeks, but an aspect of their game they will continue to work on. The team “worked really hard” to get a win on the board, and as Neville noted, that came from their push to “never let go until the final whistle.”
